Let's Get Started!

When To Schedule

Newborn sessions typically are best within 14 days of birth.  I tentatively schedule 14 days out from your due date and then we can pick the exact date once you have delivered.  When you have had your baby, please let me know and we will get the exact day set up!

Newborn sessions are scheduled weekdays starting at 10am and can take up to 4 hours.

Day of Session

  • Stimulate & keep baby awake for an hour or so before the session. This helps make baby extra sleepy for the session & when baby can get in a deeper sleep, it makes posing & going from one set to another easier. A warm bath is a great way to do this as well as talking & interacting with baby while keeping them in just their diaper.

  • Feed baby right before the session. A full belly makes for a happy, sleepy baby. Feel free to come a little early to the studio to feed baby right before, especially if you have a longer car ride. Also, feeding baby as much as possible in the 12 hours leading up to the session will allow for baby to sleep as deeply and as long as possible.

  •  I highly recommend scheduling your session on a day when you don't have other commitments as the session will last 2-4 hours.

  •  I will bring studio lighting with me for consistent light, so I will set up in whatever area of your home that has the most space. For family photos, I still might use natural light if you have a room that has adequate nature light (large floor-length windows and sliding glass doors offer excellent light).

  •  Please have pets safely put away during the session and floors swept clean of pet hair in the areas I'll be setting up in. I will also have you turn off any lamps or lights in the area of the house I'm photographing to avoid any color cast they might give off.

  •  Set up takes me about 30 minutes. During this time we will also look through my collection of wraps and accessories so you can choose your favorites.

Bad Weather Coming?

If the weather is forecasted to be yucky - raining, super hot or cold, crazy windy, etc - I will be in touch with you.  Sometimes I can work with less than desirable weather, depending on the location, but we will make a decision together for what will be best.

See ya soon!
